VerbenaRocks.jpg
DFLOWERS21ripC.jpg.(02/14/05, La Quinta, Metro) Sand verbena wildflowers also known as "abronia villosa (scientific name)" bloom at the base of a mountain as brittlebush bloom in between the rocks on Washington Street next to the Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in La Quinta, recently. Brittlebush is also known as "encelia farinosa (scientific name)" or incienso, which in Spanish means incense. The name incienso originated from the early missionaries using their resin for burning incense. (The Press-Enterprise/Rodrigo Pena)
